How long have you been with HCVT? Three years, this past March. - Why did you choose tax? I was at a point in my career where I wanted to do something different, learn something new, something more challenging. I was really looking for some kind of change and tax suited me well. I'm good with numbers and I like working with people. It was just something that worked well for me. - What were some of the challenges you faced in the first year and how did the firm work with you to ease the transition? There were some tax returns I had never done before, only my personal tax return. There was a lot of new information that I had never learned in my career, things that you don't pick up from school. As a first-year staff, the hardest part was picking up all the knowledge and fresh information that you come into contact with. The firm's training and mentoring program has been the backbone of my success. I attribute all my accomplishments and what I've learned to that system. The trainings and my mentor, along with the constant support and guidance from those around me, have pushed me further in my tax career.
